I'm using this site as a second site for the times when my main website is down www.clareshepherd.com . I have a day gallery-minding today and am going to spend a happy few hours updating this site.
Clare Shepherd is an artist living and working on The Cranborne Chase in Dorset. Clare was born and brought up in Somerset and is very much a Wessex based artist. As well as within her own landscape of Dorset, she paints frequently on Exmoor and of Exmoor. Clare studied art at Somerset College of Arts and Technology and moved on to The Slade School of Fine Art in London where she was awarded The Slade Prize when she graduated. Clare has taught for some years for The Dorset Adult Education Service and for The University of Bath but now teaches her own privately run courses in Blandford Forum, Dorset which are thriving and inspiring. Clare's classes are a mix practical technique and thought provoking inspiration.
Clare's output is diverse. She might paint a political subject -her love of irony and double standards in the political world interests her very much, but she also loves the landscape within which she lives and can't help but be absorbed by it and its seasonal changes. Currently her father has been ill and she 's been making studies and paintings of him.
